Julien Rodriguez joined the Light Blues on August 4, 2005 from French outfit AS Monaco.
The tall, rugged defender is vastly experienced and will be looking forward to working with countryman Paul Le Guen.clinched the title the following year.
He was back in the fray the following term, however, appearing in 18 league matches and helping the club reach the French League Cup final. Coincidentally, he also took his European bow in a 1-0 home defeat by Rangers FC in September 2000.
In 2002/03 he played 26 league games as Monaco finished runners-up and was involved in the club's French League Cup win. Rodriguez formed a solid defensive partnership with Sébastien Squillaci and was rewarded with a new four-year contract at the end of the season.
Rodriguez then enhanced his reputation by playing in 35 Ligue 1 matches as Didier Deschamps' team finished third and was also present for all 1170 minutes of Monaco's Champions League campaign, an adventure which came to a shuddering halt as the French side were beaten 3-0 in the final by FC Porto.
But the lure of a fresh challenge was too much for Rodriguez to refuse and when Rangers came calling he was delighted to sign a four-year deal.

Having progressed through the youth ranks at Monaco, Rodriguez played alongside Dado Prso and the Croatian was delighted to be reunited with his good friend at Ibrox.

The arrival of Mexican Rafael Márquez halted his progress, and he featured in just two league games as Monaco influential player in Le Guen's Ibrox revolution.
